Set for November 29th, its traditional “Saturday after Thanksgiving” date, the six-segment program will have something for everybody beginning with memorabilia displays and “Hot Laps” before the formal program kicks off at 11:45 am.

“I recently discovered a movie of Altamont’s Lee Wallard winning the 1951 Indianapolis 500, so we’ll run that for “Hot Laps,” as our first program segment about driver Henry Gritzbach is set at the Altamont Fairgrounds where Wallard was a star,” said event organizer Ron Hedger.  “We’ll then begin the formal program with Paul Malecki’s talk on Gritzbach followed by my vintage photo segment titled “The Good Old Days Weren’t All That Good.”

Following a brief intermission, Area Auto Racing News columnist John Snyder will recall highlights of the iconic Eastern States 200 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Middletown and Hedger will interview Paul Montenaro, longtime promoter of the Dodge City go-kart track that has produced so many of the region’s stock car stars.

The focus will shift again after a final intermission, with SCCA Hall of Fame racer and official Tom Campbell recalling the highlights of his unique career.  The program’s final segment, “Gremlins and Drag Rubber,” will follow with driving stars Dave Leckonby, Donnie Ackner, Don Scarborough and Kenny Tremont Jr looking back at the early dirt era at the nearby Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

“It’s a terrific line-up, plus we now have two great additions to our Racing in New York gallery,” summed up Hedger.  “Steve Miller recently brought back Nolan Swift’s 10 Pins supermodified after running it at vintage meets and Bobby Albert and the Bonadies family have loaned us the beautifully restored Tony Bonadies Kurtis Kraft roadster midget, one of the most unique racers in the nation.

Attendees will also be among the first to enjoy the new Golub gallery exhibit, Pontiac: The Dawn of Muscle, featuring the cars that started the wide-ranging muscle car era cherished by so many.

Few cars capture the spirit of 1960s America like the Monkeemobile. Originally built by Hollywood customizer Dean Jeffries for the hit television series The Monkees, this unique machine represents the perfect blend of muscle car performance, pop culture, and television entertainment. Commissioned by Jim Wangers, Pontiac’s performance marketing manager, the Monkeemobile began life as a 1966 Pontiac GTO before being transformed into an over-the-top showpiece featuring an exaggerated grille, split windshield, flared rear panels, and even a third-row seat where the trunk would normally be.

Two Monkeemobiles were originally created for the show, but this particular example, built by legendary custom car icon George Barris, known as the “King of the Kustomizers,” went on to tour the country with The Monkees during the height of their fame. Signed by all four band members, Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork, this Monkeemobile remains a tangible link to one of the most vibrant eras in American pop history.

A true standout among the lineup in Pontiac: The Dawn of Muscle, the Monkeemobile embodies Pontiac’s bold spirit and its role in defining the American muscle car movement. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to see this historic vehicle up close, a car that continues to inspire nostalgia, joy, and admiration nearly 60 years after it first appeared on television screens.

At the heart of the exhibition is a breathtaking lineup of Pontiac GTOs, including multiple examples of the legendary GTO Judge, presented in its most iconic factory colors: Liberty Blue, Carousel Red, Orbit Orange, Granada Gold, and Lucerne Blue. Visitors will encounter the 1964 Tempest GTO that started it all, the sleek 1967 model that refined the formula, and the uncompromising 1969 to 1971 Judges that turned performance into spectacle.

Adding to the excitement, the Museum proudly presents a true piece of pop culture history: the 1966 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile, one of the most recognizable and beloved custom cars ever created for television. Designed by legendary car customizer Dean Jeffries for The Monkees TV show, this outrageous, over-the-top GTO became a rolling symbol of 1960s fun, fame, and freedom. The Monkeemobile’s presence in Pontiac: The Dawn of Muscle offers visitors a rare opportunity to see this larger-than-life icon up close, a car that perfectly captures the playful spirit of the muscle car era and the cultural explosion it inspired.

While the cars take center stage, Pontiac: The Dawn of Muscle also reflects on how image and aspiration fueled Pontiac’s rise. In the Museum’s Orientation Theater, guests will find a special presentation of digital reproductions of more than 30 Pontiac advertisements originally created by artists Art Fitzpatrick and Van Kaufmann. Courtesy of the GM Heritage Collection, these vivid works reveal how Pontiac sold more than speed; it sold confidence, style, and freedom. The sweeping scenes and dramatic perspectives used in these ads became as iconic as the cars themselves, portraying Pontiacs not just as vehicles, but as symbols of arrival.

Pontiac: The Dawn of Muscle opens to the public on November 5 at the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Springs, NY.

A special Exhibit Reception will be held on Thursday, November 13, from 5 to 7 PM, offering guests an exclusive evening to experience the exhibit, enjoy light refreshments, and celebrate the legacy of Pontiac performance.

The highlight of the event came on Day 2 when a 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale stole the show. Competitive bidding drove the price to an astonishing $808,500, setting a new auction world record and securing its place as one of the most remarkable Ferrari sales of the year.

“A sale of this magnitude is exactly what we strive for,” said Bill Windham, Auction Director. “The Ferrari 458 Speciale is an extraordinary car, and to see it achieve a world record here in Saratoga is proof of the quality consignments and global attention our auction now commands.”

Earlier in the day another world record was set with a beautifully restored 1974 Jaguar XKE, which sold for $156,750. The timeless Jaguar design once again proved its enduring allure among collectors.

Beyond the excitement on the block, the success of the auction represents something even greater for the Museum and the community it serves.

The 9th Annual Saratoga Motorcar Auction runs September 18 to 21, 2025, and has grown into one of the Northeast’s premier collector car auctions. More than 350 consignments are expected to cross the block this year, along with an extraordinary lineup of automobilia including vintage gas pumps, porcelain and neon signs, and rare collectibles. Proceeds from the event directly support the Museum’s mission to preserve, celebrate, and share the rich history of the automobile.

This year’s Auction will feature a 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale, the ultimate evolution of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V8, delivering 597 horsepower and a 9,000-rpm redline. Its razor-sharp aerodynamics and track-bred engineering have secured its place as one of the most desirable Ferraris of the modern era. Sharing the spotlight is a 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, an extreme road-going version of the legendary gullwing, inspired by the brand’s GT3 race car. With a hand-built 6.2L V8 producing 622 horsepower and only 132 examples delivered to the U.S., it stands among the rarest and most collectible AMGs ever built.

For those seeking Italian drama and raw power, a 2020 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ will cross the block, boasting 759 horsepower from its naturally aspirated V12 and once holding the Nürburgring production car lap record. Its limited production and striking presence make it one of the most celebrated Lamborghinis in recent memory. From across the Atlantic, a concours-quality restored 1964 Pontiac GTO will represent American muscle at its finest. Widely regarded as the car that launched the muscle car era, this first-year GTO with its 389 cubic inch V8 and tri-power carburetors captures the excitement and prestige of Detroit’s golden age. Rounding out the highlights is a 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost, a modern classic of effortless luxury. Visitors can explore the museum’s newest exhibition, The Corvette Story, an exciting showcase that celebrates the legacy of America’s most iconic sports car. From early classics to modern high-performance models, the exhibition highlights the design, innovation, and culture that have made the Corvette a legend on and off the road.

After poor weather postponed the original event date, the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s Spring Auto Show is all set for its new date: Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Saratoga Spa State Park. And with clear skies on our mind, the Museum is preparing for the biggest turnout yet.

Over 1,000 cars, trucks, and motorcycles are expected on the show field, and anticipation is high. As a special incentive, the 1,000th registrant will receive a PLUS Museum Membership valued at $150, offering unlimited admission to museum exhibits and programs for a full year.

“Along with the membership, we’re going to reserve a display space right next to me in the award area for the 1,000th entrant’s car, truck, or motorcycle,” said show MC Ron Hedger. “I’m looking forward to interviewing him or her, along with our trophy winners selected by the judges.”

With the Muscle Car Show now taking place on the same date, the museum is creating a dedicated display area for all pre-registered Muscle Car entries—giving these American powerhouses the attention they deserve.

Guests will have the opportunity to test drive participating electric and hybrid vehicles throughout the day. Under brilliant skies and amidst the lush fairways of Saratoga National Golf Club, the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s 3rd Annual Golf Outing proved to be a day to remember. Friends, supporters, and golf enthusiasts gathered for a spirited round of best ball golf—all in support of the Museum’s mission to celebrate the automobile and its place in our culture.

At the heart of the event was the Foursome Winning Team: Kevin Cordella, Jeff Ives, Jay Ives, and Derek DeMeo. The group delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 13 under par, securing their place at the top of the leaderboard. Morgan Flatley unleashed a monster drive on Hole 18, capturing the Longest Drive honors. Meanwhile, Bill Arpei demonstrated pinpoint precision with his tee shot on Hole 7, landing just feet from the cup to win Closest to the Pin.

Adding a bit of excitement off the course, the 50/50 raffle brought a smile to John Honis, who took home the prize—proof that luck was just as much in play as skill.

While the day celebrated incredible individual and team achievements, it ultimately served a greater purpose: supporting the Saratoga Automobile Museum and its programs. From preserving automotive history to educating future generations, the Museum relies on events like this to fuel its mission.

As this year’s outing comes to a close, mark your calendars: the 4th Annual Golf Outing will return to Saratoga National Golf Club on Monday, May 11, 2025. Whether you're a scratch golfer or just in it for the cause, it promises to be another unforgettable day on the links.

Valued at $150, the membership will allow the winner entry to a wide variety of exhibits and programs for the next year while marking the largest auto show turnout since the Spring Show’s inception some two decades ago.

“Along with the membership, we’re going to reserve a display space right next to me in the award area for the 1000th entrant’s car, truck or motorcycle,” offered show MC Ron Hedger.  “I’m looking forward to interviewing him or her along with the trophy winners selected by the judges.”

In anticipation of a record turnout, a number of new judging classes have been added for 2025 to recognize outstanding vehicles of all types, making the awards ceremony a “must see” event.

Advance registrations can be secured online at www.saratogaautomuseum.org for $20, a $5 saving over “day of” registrations.  All registrations will include two admissions to the museum, where the newly opened Golub Gallery exhibit Speed-Style-Legacy: The Corvette Story will be the featured attraction.

 As always, the show, held on the huge event field on the Avenue of the Pines in the Saratoga Spa State Park, is free to spectators.

Along with a variety of vendors and food trucks, show attendees will find displays featuring show sponsors Alfa Romeo of Albany, Northeast Acura, Saratoga Honda, Porsche of Clifton Park and Mohawk Collision Center.

Show hours are 9 am to 2 pm with the awards ceremony set for 1 pm.  Registration and on-field parking will open at 8 am.
